Alfonso Espinosa
April 3, 1969 ~ February 18, 2023
Alfonso Espinosa (“Fonz”) was a dedicated husband, father of two, and friend of many. He passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2023, at the age of 53 years old. The family and friends are deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.
Alfonso was born in 1969 in Brooklyn, New York to parents of Colombian descent. He was raised in Corona, Queens, where he fell in love with basketball and developed his trademark smile and positive energy. You could always find him on the court playing basketball with a heart full of life-loving spirit.
A big brother to many, he was caring, relentless and reliable. He jump-started an exciting career in modeling before joining Restaurant Associates as a bartender, in 1995. He quickly became the go-to expert in events operations and a leader respected by all. He had the power of bringing people together and was authentically and wholeheartedly there for the team.
Alfonso's journey through life led him to the Garden State, where he and his loving wife Daniela shared a long-lasting passion that grew into forming a beautiful family. His two daughters were without doubt his proudest achievement, treasured deeply in Alfonso’s heart. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved family, at home, exploring the city and discovering exciting destinations. Nothing could compete with their love and joy while they were together.
He had a fiery passion for basketball at his core. His competitive spirit and positive attitude were infectious – not only on the court but off it too; leaving behind an inspiring legacy of honesty and friendship that will never be forgotten.
Alfonso is preceded in death by his sister Janet Espinosa and his father Alfonso R. Espinosa; he is survived by his mother, Lucy Santamaria; his wife Daniela Quinones and his daughters Valentina and Isabella; his siblings Rudy, Cindy and Steven Espinosa; his nephews Jayson, Justin, Wolfe and Nova Rose, Lucca, Anna, Andre, Luigi and Enzo and extended family members in New York , Miami and Colombia.
The family would like to thank the heartwarming outpouring of love and support they have received. They will receive friends on Sunday, February 26th from 2-6 pm at the Frank Patti Funeral Home located at 327 Main Street, Fort Lee. The funeral will be held privately, but a celebration may be held at a later date.

You will be missed!
Alfonso was a man of integrity, honesty, and humility. I had the privilege of working with him during my tenure as Director of Service for Restaurant Associates. He was a true professional and an expert in building and executing a high-level special event. Honestly, I couldn't have done it without him. I owe my success as Director of Service to him and Jerry Santos and the team that was built under his leadership. My heart is aching because of the loss of this kind and gentle soul.
Daniela, Valentina, and Isabella – my heart and thoughts are with you. Valentina, Isabella – you have the best daddy in the world.
