August 15, 1937 ~ February 2, 2021

Daisy Hsu, age 83, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, after over three years of battle with Lung Cancer. Having lived in Hong Kong, Taiwan, New York, Honolulu, Vancouver and Palo Alto, she finally settled down in New Jersey at the request of her daughter.

Daisy was a beloved mother of Julia, a cherished mother-in-law of Rick and a devoted daughter of the late Ta-Tung Hsu. Together, Daisy and her daughter frequently traveled the world, building fulfilling memories.

When Daisy wasn’t busy traveling or enjoying local culinary treasures, she could be found socializing with friends. She very much enjoyed the company of close friends and catching-up on old times and new life events. One of Daisy’s biggest hobbies is playing mahjong. Prior to retirement, Daisy spent much of her career in hospitality. With her firecracker personality, grace and charisma, Daisy always stood out in a crowd.

Due to COVID-19, the family held a private prayer at Frank Patti and Mikatarian Funeral Home in Fort Lee, NJ.

  1. Dear Auntie Daisy,
It's been a pleasure knowing you and having Julia stand such a huge part in my life. Don't worry, We will all take great care of Julia (but it's usually Julia taking care of me). I just want to say that this is not goodbye, but only a new beginning for you and us. You will not be forgotten, you will not be lost. We will meet you again someday.

    Dear Julia,
Sending you my condolences and just want you to know that you are not alone, and auntie Daisy isn't alone either.

    With Love,
    Alex

  2. Auntie Daisy, we miss your humor and style! We were fortunate to share time with you.

Julia, it's every parent's hope to see their child grow up to be a good person. I know she is proud of the woman you've become. She is happy knowing that you are loved and well taken care of by Rick.

    Take Care,

    Nelson

  3. They often say, for each life one gets to enjoy, one will encounter ten souls who through their innate positivity and generosity will touch one's heart and make one's life for the better throughout one's entire lifetime. Ms. Daisy Hsu is one such person to the Kwok family. We go all the way back to 1989/90 when we first set foot in Taipei, and our friendship spans three decades. Daisy is a resilient and kind-hearted individual who always make the care for others a priority in her life. We trust that Julia and Rick will carry forth her legacy and spirit, and live everyday to their fullest. We are honoured to count having Daisy as a family friend a privilege and a blessing. Love, Lawrence, Evanda and Kenneth

  4. Daisy and I met in New York in 1959 and have been friends ever since. Even though we both moved around a few times over the years we managed to get together in New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver. Those visits always centered around good meals. It was always fun to have dinner with Daisy.

Daisy was elegant, kind, generous and a devoted friend and mother. I will miss her bubbly personality forever.

    Rest In Peace dear friend.
