Dr. John J. Lampidis
October 8, 1941 ~ April 11, 2022
Dr. John J. Lampidis of Fort Lee, NJ, passed peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2022. He was 80 years old.
John was a dentist with a DDS and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology (ABP). Son of James and Mary Lampidis, he was born on October 8, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY.
He graduated NYU with a BS degree in biology and obtained his DDS and ABP degrees from NYU College of Dentistry. He was an officer in the US Army Reserve during the Vietnam era, serving as a dentist. He was beloved by his patients and pioneered changes in the way our teeth and gums are maintained to stay health and treated when needed. He taught courses at NYU and was an avid reader with a highly curious and analytical mind.
After spending his summers as a child at a Greek bungalow colony in the Catskill mountains, he was inspired to purchase his own 100+ acre farm in the Green Mountains of Vermont. He spent a good deal of his free time enjoying nature, skiing, owning and riding horses and making many good friends along the way.
As a caring son, he spent many hours with his mother Mary during her latter years, sharing meals, singing songs, and generally enjoying each other's company. John particularly loved listening to, singing and dancing to Greek music.
Before he passed, he explained that he had fulfilled all his childhood dreams, had no regrets, and lived a rich and full life.
He will be missed by those that knew him. John is survived by his sister Effie Michalos and her husband Peter, his brother Ted Lampidis and his wife Fei Tang, his nieces and nephews Jennie and Peter Ballas, Alexis and Justin Kloc, Jamie and Jen Lampidis, Julien Lampidis, Kimi Tang Lampidis, his grandniece and grandnephew, Evvie and Otie Ballas, his sister-in-law Fran, and his many good friends, in particular, Darren Cox, Nolan Krinick, Michael Bochart and Charles Kaner, as well as all his great colleagues and staff at UN Plaza Dental.
John's wild spirit will live on in the memory of the people who loved him.
