Hardy Martin passed away unexpectedly at the age of 65 on August 31st, 2024.

Hardy is survived by his children Christian and Ryan Martin, Jiselle Rodriguez and Alex Rivera; his mother, Mary Martin; his siblings, Jackie Gonzalez, Dalia Velez, Carla and Carlos Martin; his many nephews and nieces, as well as his beloved aunts and many cousins.

Born in Honduras, he emigrated to the US with his family in 1967. He grew up in Brooklyn and has lived in New Jersey for over 30 years where he was surrounded by close-knit family. He was a devoted, single dad to his son Christian. He often attended PTO meetings, and often participated in various other school functions, including fundraisers. He strongly encouraged Christian to pursue higher education and was very proud of his acceptance this fall to the NJ Institute of Technology.

Despite his stern appearance, Hardy had a generous and kind heart and often had a joke or witty comment to share. He was a hardworking, salt-of-the-earth guy. He did not suffer fools, and you always knew exactly what he was thinking. He had a strong sense of family and was often at the grill during family gatherings or making his famous shrimp ceviche. He will be sorely missed.

A celebration of life will be held on November 2nd for family and close friends.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family encourages everyone who wishes to honor Hardy’s memory, as well as his dream, to consider a donation to help his son Christian with his college education.
