Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Together withy sister Lucia Verde Kopera send our deepest sympathies to Jeannine's family. We grew up together in the Bronx and then visited her frequently in Ft. Lee. We remember her for her intelligence and sense of humor.

  2. I do not remember how I got to know Jeannine, but that must have been sometime in 1968, the year I moved to New York from Japan. I worked with her to translate a Japanese book into English. That was around 1970, when she lived near Columbia University. The book is this:

Then Jeannine went to work for an American publishing house in Tokyo, for a year (as I recall). After that, for some reason, she disappeared from my sight, although I saw her once in the lobby of McGraw-Hill Building where my office was. She appeared preoccupied.

As a copyeditor, Jeannine taught me some interesting rules. Her opinion of certain writers was sharp.

I regret our association lasted for only four or five years. Hiroaki Sato
