Selkaitis, Joan Irene, age 69, a longtime resident of Palisades Park, New Jersey, passed away on September 12, 2017. Joan served as a Palisades Park Police Officer before retiring from the force in 1999. Beloved sister of James Selkaitis, Karen Stanhope and Susan Hart. Along with her siblings, Joan had the dedicated support of her sister-in-law, Betty, and brother-in-law, Brad, for the many years they have been a part of our family. She held the most special place in her heart for her only niece, Caroline, who brought her great joy. Joan is predeceased by her parents Walter and Irene Selkaitis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 16, at 9:45 am at St. Raymond's Church, 1759 Castle Hill Avenue, Bronx, New York. The extended Selkaitis family would like to thank the entire Palisades Police Department for the incredible support they showed to Joan during her 14 years on the force, and the extraordinary care they gave to her during her times of need throughout her 18 years of retirement. We are forever grateful for your kindness and generosity. We would also like to thank Dr. Catherine Laiosa and the team at Leonia Medical Associates, and the nursing staff on 4 Dean at Englewood Hospital, for their care of Joan during her illness, and their considerate support of our family.
