Lucia J. Bazzarelli
September 26, 1968 ~ May 15, 2022
“ Lucia Fontana Bazzarelli passed away surrounded by family. She passed on May 15th, 2022.
Lucia was born on September 26, 1968 to Maria and Gaetano Fontana. From a young age, Lucia showed an incredible amount of friendship and kindness to whoever crossed her path. She was always active in her community, and was a dedicated Catholic. Her love and compassion is exemplified in the many friends, new and old, that hold Lucia dear to their hearts.
Lucia has taught at West Essex Regional High School for over thirty years, and considered her students a true joy in her life. She loved teaching, and made sure to keep in touch with many of her former students years after they had left school. Her students made her so proud, as she often bragged about their many accomplishments.
Lucia was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when she was 23, and Breast Cancer in her early 40s. Despite these major setbacks, Lucia never complained. Most people would be shocked to learn of her medical history, seeing how active, youthful and fun she was.
Most important to her life were her two boys, Marco and Luca. Lucia singlehandedly raised her boys while working full time. She took part in every moment of their lives, providing an unending supply of love and support for her children.
Lucia is a woman loved by so many, and will be missed greatly. Her love for us all is a gift we shall treasure for the rest of our lives.”
The family will receive their friends on Wednesday 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street "opposite the Fort Lee Library". The funeral will leave Thursday at 9:30 AM for the celebration of her funeral mass in St. Margaret Of Cortona, Little Ferry, at 10:00 AM.
