Rosalie Jean Hoyos, age 41, passed away on August 17, 2024 in Homestead, FL, after a brave battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. Rosalie was born on August 26, 1982, in Jersey City, NJ. She grew up in Edgewater, NJ and moved to Homestead, FL in 2015. Rosalie’s strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Rosalie’s career began as a barista at Starbucks, where she worked for nearly 20 years. Over her tenure, she served as a store manager at several locations in NJ and Florida, forming many lifelong friendships and being cherished by her partners and customers alike. In 2022, she embarked on a new chapter as a recruiter for RaceTrac in Florida, where she quickly made a lasting impression and was loved by her colleagues.
Beyond work, Rosalie was known as the life of the party, always bringing energy and joy to any gathering. She had a love/hate relationship with running but proudly completed multiple Disney marathons and other fun runs. A true Disney fan, she adored anything and everything Donald Duck. Rosalie had a deep love for Hallmark Christmas movies, fishing, baking her famous cheesecakes for Thanksgiving, and cheering on the Chicago Bulls. Her joyful spirit and passion for life made her a cherished presence among family and friends.
Rosalie is survived by her brother, Danny Hoyos, and nephew, Eros Hoyos, of Edgewater, NJ; her father, Floriberto Hoyos, of Homestead, FL; and her grandparents, Consuelo and Sabino Hoyos, of Homestead, FL. She was predeceased by her mother, Frances Treadwell Hoyos, of Edgewater, NJ who passed away in October 2023. Rosalie was loved dearly by her cousin and godmother, Florence de Vera, of Ridgewood, NJ, and her family, as well as her cousin, Kim Jacob, of Elmwood Park, NJ. She is also survived by a large extended family and many friends who will miss her greatly.
A memorial service to honor Rosalie’s life will be held on September 21, 2024, at 1 pm at Frank Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home, 327 Main Street, Fort Lee, NJ (opposite the Fort Lee Library). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation in Rosalie’s memory, to help fund research and support others fighting this devastating disease.

Roro life is so unfair. You should still be here with us. I still can’t wrap my head around all that’s happened since last October. It is with great sadness that I learned of Rosalie’s passing. It was always a pleasure to see her. My deepest sympathy to Danny. May her memory be for a blessing.
