Memories Timeline

  1. I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Dona Sofia. She was such a wonderful person in every way. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. I share your sorrow, and will never forget her.

    —Hans A. Engel

  2. Dear Grace and Sergio,
We send you and yours our heart felt sympathy. Your mom will sorely be missed by all whose lives she touched with her warmth and compassion.
    Un fuerte abrazo
    John and Rose Mary Hampilos

  3. Dear Mami,

You have left behind 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. What a great legacy.

I have such a wonderful memories of the time we spent together doing our hair, sewing together, and going to the movies. One movie in particular that you talked about often was The Titanic and how you loved the Marco Island Theater, where you sat with a glass of wine enjoying the movie. It seems like it was yesterday and not 20 years ago.

Every day at 10:00 am I would call before your daily exercises to chat and I will continue to talk to you in prayer every day at that time.

The light of God surrounds you
The Love of God enfolds you
The poser of God protects you
The presence of God watches over you
    Wherever you are God is!
    And all is wel.

My memories are so many and I have lots of stories to tell your great-grandchildren for many years to come.

Mami, you and Papi will never be forgotten.

    Love you, your daughter,
    Miriam Lucia

  4. To Our Lovely Abuela Sofia,

How I wish that your great-grandchildren could have known you better. We are so thankful for the family you had close to you every day and the great-grandchildren, grandchildren, and daughters that were able to be there with you. We love you and will cherish the memories we have.

  5. Sofia was a strong, brave, loving, funny, artistic and energetic woman that never met a match she couldn't conquer. Moving her family to the US took courage that not many posses. When that brave move was made, she set my future into motion decades before I would even be born, and allowed me to live the extraordinarily blessed life I now have.

She left an incredible legacy behind her. My mother Miriam. The exact mother that God intended for my sister Vanessa and I to have. For that I am also grateful.

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."
    ~Author Unknown

  6. Aunque no la vi mucho la conoci en la casa de mis padres cuando vino de visita con mi tia. Mi más sentido pésame a la familia y en especial a Grace, Sergio y su nieto.
