David A. Varina

David A. Varina, age 70 of Barnegat, NJ passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born July 2, 1954, in Paterson, NJ. He attended Don Boscoe Tech High School, then went on to Montclair State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. He continued his education at Rutgers University obtaining his Master of Science degree in Engineering. He retired from Ericsson as a Senior Systems Engineer, formerly employed by Telecordia, Bell Labs, and AT&T. He was an avid reader, sports fanatic and loved facts and trivia. He was a talented baseball player and was a pitcher in minor leagues. Dave participated in the Boston Marathon, DC Marathon, and the Philadelphia Half Marathon. Cruising with his wife was his favorite pastime. Dave was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Member of Mirage Golf Club & Mirage Italian American Club. He was also a parishioner of St Mary’s Parish in Barnegat and read his bible every day.

Dave would always say family is most important. When you are with family, you have everything. Beloved husband of Angie (nee: Tarabocchia). Devoted father of Mike & wife Missy, Greg & wife Kara, Jessica, Randy & wife Kristen and Kristel & husband Steve. Cherished grandfather of Sayler, Capri, Jett, Tripp Mila, Ivan, and Noah.  Dear brother of Rich & wife Angela. Adored brother-in-law of Stella & John, Anthony & Lisa and Dina & Dino.  Dear uncle of Karen & husband Doug, Kristen & husband Albert, Johnny & wife Courtney, Tyler, Jonathan & wife Jessica, Nicole, Anthony III, Austin, Julia, and Olivia. Dave was loved by all and will be missed by all.

The family will receive their friends on Monday 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street “opposite the Fort Lee Library”.  The funeral will leave Tuesday at 10:30 AM for the celebration of his funeral mass in Madonna R.C.
