Eva Violet Bruni

Eva Violet Bruni (nee Ettore) was taken by the angels peacefully on December 23rd 2020. Born in North Bergen NJ on July 10, 1930, she was the youngest of 5 children born to John and Josephine Ettore who immigrated from Salerno, Italy. She was predeceased by her brother, Nick and three sisters, Ronnie Formosa, Marie Ettore and Florette O’Connor. Married to Arthur Bruni (deceased 2008) , she was married to a wonderful man.

Although she had no children of her own, she had many neices and nephews who treated her like a mother. Ava had many cousins also, but since she was the youngest cousin, she was the last of the many strong Ettore women, a generation to be strongly missed.

Christmas was Ava’s favorite holiday and she bought massive amounts of presents for her entire family. Her family would sit around the tree, playing Jose Feliciano and Pavorotti – Avas favorites – and it would take 5 or 6 hours, well into Christmas night, to open everyone’s gifts. After midnight, hungry or not, she would have to serve the ham that she bought because it was tradition. Tradition was important to her. She was also famous for her delicious meatballs.

There was a certain mystery to Ava. Well into her last few months, she always dressed well, wore black with giant sunglasses and big earrings. That look made an impression on everyone who met her and people thought she was unapproachable. Actually, she loved people and was a very kind and generous person.

She is missed already.
