Brusco, Giacinto, age 89 of Leonia, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024. He was born on April 18, 1935, in Belmonde, Calbria, Italy to his parents Rosa (Pellegrino) and Giuseppe Brusco, He then spent time in Venezuela where he met his beautiful wife Blas Elide Reymond. They married in 1966 and went on to have four children. During this time they immigrated to the United States, first in Fort Lee, and then eventually settling down in Leonia. Giacinto was a hard worker, a devoted husband, and a loving and protective father. He always put his family first before anything else. He loved nothing more than watching his children’s Little League games, singing Italian songs to everyone who would listen, and making homemade wine. During holidays, he was always in the kitchen helping to cut and peel sweet potatoes and broccoli rabe. When he became a grandfather to his six grandchildren, it was the proudest and happiest time of his life. He enjoyed showing the grandkids how to tend to the enormous garden in his backyard, picking tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, pears and figs. He loved to show off the fruits and vegetables he grew, by handing them out to neighbors, friends, and family. Giacinto’s love, loyalty, and friendliness will be missed by everyone who knew him, and leaves a hole in the hearts of his entire family.
Loving husband to Blas Elide (nee: Reymond) cherished father to Liva DeSimone and her husband Phil, Henry Brusco and his wife Laura, and his daughter-in- law Patricia Brusco. He was predeceased by his sons Nino and Juan Brusco. Adored grandfather to Nicholas, Joseph, Brian, Luca, Anthony and Dominic. He also leaves behind a beloved sister Francesca Guglielmo. He was predeceased by his brother Francesco Brusco and his sisters Teresa Guglielmo and Barbara Runco.
The family will receive their friends on Tuesday from 3-7pm at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street “opposite the Fort Lee Library”. The funeral will leave Wednesday at 10 AM for the celebration of his funeral mass in Saint Nicholas RC Church at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Giacinto’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
