Giuseppe, 89 of Palisades Park, NJ, passed away on July 23, 2024 after a late in life battle with cancer.
Giuseppe was born on August 12, 1934, to Giovanni and Luigia in Ferrara, Italy. Giuseppe’s mother Luiga passed away when he was just 5 years old, but he continually remembered and prayed for her. Also remembered are his sisters Giuseppina, Fedora (decd.) and Nella (decd.), and half-siblings Sandra, Renza and Mauricio, along with their families. Giuseppe was predeceased by his mother- and father-in-law Giuseppina and Antonio Vlacich and his dear daughter-in-law Lynn.
Seeking employment to help support his father and siblings, Giuseppe left Italy at the age of 21 and worked various jobs in London, Paris, then Toronto, until finally following the love of his life Lidia to America. In 1953, Giuseppe met Lidia in Friuli, and they wed in 1958 in Hoboken, NJ. Giuseppe and Lidia went on to have three children, Sergio, Giorgio and Cinzia, along with their spouses Joannie, Theresa and Anthony. The family continued to grow with Giuseppe and Lidia’s grandchildren and their spouses Joe and Lynn, Cristin and Sean, Danielle and Max, Giorgio and Cheyenne, Sara, Anthony Jr and Luca. Giuseppe was also blessed with six great grandchildren Sophia, Emilia, Brooklyn, Trey, Kellen and Scottie. Giuseppe and Lidia loved to tell of being two immigrants coming to the United States with nothing and becoming a close knit family of 23 which continues to grow.
Giuseppe worked hard his entire life. After arriving in the United States, he worked tirelessly in a series of restaurants with the noble goal of taking care of his family, buying a house in a solid neighborhood, never having his family want for anything and enabling his three children to successfully attend and graduate from college. Family was the defining theme of Giuseppe’s life.
After briefly owning two restaurants in Montclair and Lavalette, NJ, Giuseppe continued assisting friends in the restaurant business until his retirement in 2010. In retirement, Giuseppe continued with his passions of winemaking, gardening and cooking.
