Kathleen Mary Cassidy, nee: Scollan, age 95, of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Fort, Lee, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024. She lived a full and beautiful life, filled with a passion for her career, fondness for her large family, and numerous friendships. She never met a stranger. Every person was just a friend she hadn’t met yet.
Kathleen was born in Manhattan, New York, to Thomas and Nora Scollan, on June 20, 1928. She was the oldest of 8 children, a role she reveled in. She attended Cathedral High School in New York City and graduated in 1946. In 1950, the family moved to Fort Lee, NJ. She started her career part-time at Cushman’s Bakery while in high school. She eventually led a 36 year career working for Unilever (formerly Lever Brothers) on Park Avenue in New York City. Even in her last days, this remained one of her most treasured accomplishments. In 1969, she married Jimmy Cassidy until his death in 1977. She enjoyed traveling, volunteering, singing in choir, supporting the arts/theatre, and being active in her church, Holy Trinity of Fort Lee. Kathleen’s joy for life, generosity, and resilience will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Kathleen is survived by her brother John Scollan (Arlene), her sister Mary Knesel (Dan), 22 nieces and nephews, many grand-nieces and nephews, and even great-grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters Ann Monaghan and Eileen Blake, and her brothers Thomas Scollan and Francis Scollan.
