Keiko Mori

Keiko Mori, age 90, was born in Karafuto, a Northern Territory of Japan that is now Sakhalin, Russia.

Her best childhood memories included berry picking with her sisters, and skiing to school during the snowy and frigid winters.

After the war, her family relocated to Yokohama. There, she attended Tsurumi High School, an all girl’s Buddhist school, and upon graduation she worked at Ricoh Company in Ginza.

In Tokyo, she met and married Masataka Mori. His work as a karate instructor led them to Hawaii, where her first child Mayumi was born, and then to New York City, where her second child Sayuri was born. She was a resident of Closter for almost fifty years. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Japanese Children’s Society in Englewood Cliffs for seventeen years.

Her greatest pride and joy were her family. She is survived by her daughters, sons-in-law, and her beloved grandchildren.

Wake services will take place on Friday, April 25 4-8 PM, to be followed by funeral service on Saturday, April 26 between 10 am to noon.

Both events will be at Frank Patti funeral home, 327 Main Street Fort Lee NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to support medical research through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at https://diy.lls.org/KeikoMori
