Lillian McNaughton, 92, of Cliffside Park
Lillian McNaughton, 92, a longtime resident of Cliffside Park, died peacefully on Friday, May 24 at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck.
Born in New York City on Sept. 23, 1931, to John and Mary (nee Needham) McNaughton, Lillian grew up in West New York, where she graduated from Memorial High School.
Employed by NBC in New York City for 36 years, she worked at the company’s radio network from 1952 until retiring in 1988.
A first generation American, Lillian was tremendously proud of her Scottish heritage, and she thoroughly enjoyed researching her ancestry.
She was an independent, well-traveled woman with strong political convictions. Lillian also was an avid reader who could talk with great knowledge on many topics.
She was a faithful parishioner at the Presbyterian Church in Leonia, where her presence will be missed dearly by her church family.
She is survived by cousin, Audrey McNaughton Docherty, her husband, Joe, of Edinburgh, Scotland, and their family.
Also mourning Lillian are the children of her lifelong friend the late Elizabeth M. (Weiss) Harrison – Robert Harrison, Debra Ostrowski, Scott Harrison and Linda O’Brien and their families – who all considered Lillian family as she did them; longtime friend Norma Jolly and other friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Leonia, 181 Fort Lee Road. Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Clifton. Services are under the direction of the Frank Patti Funeral Home, 327 Main St., Fort Lee.
For those who wish, donations in Lillian’s memory can be made to the Presbyterian Church in Leonia.
