Linda C Lavelanet passed away on October 19, 2024, at the age of 70 in Maywood, New Jersey. Born on November 19, 1953, at Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey, and was raised in West New York, NJ.
Linda’s spirit is carried on by her brother, Daniel Castrillon; daughters, Danielle Lavelanet and Natacha Lavelanet-Pena, and son-in-law, Luis Pena. She was a cherished grandmother to Oliver, Jackson, and Elle. Linda is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lionel Lavelanet; parents, Daniel and Anne Castrillon; sister Dolores Foster; sisters and brother-in-laws, Rita and Vincent Barone and Janet and William Pappas.
Linda’s career spanned 48 years in the banking sector, culminating in her retirement in 2022 as the Senior Vice President of Global Treasury Solutions at Bank of America. Her professional journey included an 8-year hiatus during which she moved to Haiti with her cherished husband, Lionel, and taught English to adults, a period that highlighted her passion for education and community service.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose guidance and deep affection touched all aspects of her family’s lives. Her legacy of kindness, resolve, love, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to her family will be cherished and kept alive by those who loved her and were touched by her remarkable life.
Services will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Maywood, NJ, Friday October 25, 2024 at 11 a.m. While black attire is welcome, feel free to wear any colors that reflect your love and memories of Linda; your presence is what matters most.
Flowers May be sent to the church on the day of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Linda’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, honoring her lifelong commitment to helping others.
