Maria Mattessich

Mattessich, Maria (nee: Morin), age 86, a 49-year resident of Palisades Park, formerly of Hoboken, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Born in Susak, Croatia she immigrated to the United States in 1951 where she recognized the great opportunities for her and her family. She worked for many years as a seamstress, but her greatest joy was taking care of her family.

Beloved wife of 54 years to the late Martino Mattessich. Devoted mother of Donald and his wife Linda, Anthony, Marty and his wife Annette, and Rosemary Bialick and her husband Steven. Cherished “Nonnie” of Stephanie, Troy, Christian, Kyle, Carly and Devin. Dear sister of Emidio Morin and his wife Nicolina, and the late Gaudenzia Suttora and her late husband Matthew. Adored sister-in-law of Mario Matesic and his wife Gaudenzia, and the late Aldo Mattessich and his wife Yolanda. Beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive their friends on Friday 4-8 pm at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street “opposite the Fort Lee Library”. The funeral procession will leave Saturday at 10 AM for the celebration of her funeral mass in St. Nicholas R.C. Church (Palisades Park) at 10:30 AM.
