Maureen Ann Hennessy

Maureen Ann Hennessy, 81, of Edgewater, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Friday,
November 15th, surrounded by her loving daughter and grandchildren. Maureen Waunsch
Hennessy was born on January 4th, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, the beloved first daughter of
Florence and Joseph and a caring elder sister to her four siblings. As the oldest, Maureen took on
the role of a second mother, nurturing her siblings with warmth and devotion. She was also a
cherished aunt to her many nieces and nephews. From early on, this showed the motherly and
nurturing nature she continued throughout her life.
In the late 1960s, Maureen moved to Edgewater, New Jersey, where she met the love of her life,
Danny Hennessy, known to family and friends as “Daddy O.” They married on February 10th,
1971, and welcomed their cherished daughter, Jennifer Lynn, on September 10, 1973. Together,
Maureen and Danny made Edgewater their home, raising Jennifer in the same town where they
had fallen in love and built a life full of joy and memories. Jennifer, Maureen’s beloved daughter,
meant everything to her. Their bond was unbreakable, and they shared an incredible relationship,
not just as mother and daughter, but as best friends who supported and cherished each other
through every moment of life.
Maureen worked at Hills Brothers Coffee and was the code officer, which then led to her long
career as Chief of Police Secretary in Edgewater, NJ. Maureen’s life was further enriched by her
beautiful grandchildren, who called her Nanny: Justine Isabella Myack, Brandon Daniel Myack,
and Gianna Nicole Myack—whom Maureen loved and adored deeply. They were her pride and
joy, and her love for them was unlimited. Maureen also deeply adored Tommy Myack, with
whom she still had a very special relationship. They filled Maureen’s life with a lot of love and
laughter.
Maureen’s kindness touched all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in her family and in the
countless lives she brightened with her strong and sassy spirit. Maureen was an avid sports fan
who loved her buttered rolls, coffee, and newspaper. She had a special place in her heart for the
New York Mets, the New York Jets, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Beyond her love for Sunday
football, Maureen was affectionately known as “Mama Hennessy” to the Edgewater Crew. She
welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and always made sure there were plenty of
snacks to go around. Maureen’s kindness touched all who knew her. She will be profoundly
missed, but her legacy will forever be remembered by the many lives she touched. May she rest
in peace with the love of her life, Danny.
