Michael S Harvey

Michael S. Harvey, 81, of Fort Lee, NJ, passed away on April 7, 2025, after a sudden illness. Mike was born in Port Chester, NY. The first child of Michael Harvey and Kathleen Hennessey Harvey. He resided in Paramus in his early childhood, before moving to Manhattan. He was a graduate of Manhattan College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and ultimately chose a career in teaching. A veteran of the US Army, he was an MP stationed in Korea. He also served in the Peace Corps where he taught in the Philippines.

Mike was a voracious reader, loved sports (especially baseball) and could often be found walking around town or sitting on the bench outside of his building enjoying time with his friends. He was a kind person, always ready to help anyone that might need it.

Perhaps his biggest claim to fame was being a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, where he did quite well, and Regis Philbin referred to him as “a salt of the earth New Yorker” to whom he wished he could give all of ABC’s money to!

Michael is pre-deceased by his beloved mother Kathleen and two brothers, John & Robert. He is survived by his two sisters Mary (aka Judy) and Kathy, and his brother Walter. He also leaves behind 4 nieces (Dana, Donna, Stacey & Jenny), 1 nephew (Daniel), as well as 4 grandnieces (Abigail, Emily, Alexandra & Madison and 2 grandnephews (Zachary & Daniel).

The family will receive their friends on Saturday April12, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street “opposite the Fort Lee Library”, following the funeral to leave at 10:00 AM for a private interment at Rockland Cemetery.
