Rosalyn Celentano, 95, passed away peacefully on April 1st, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 37 years, Joseph, who left her side 29 years ago.
Rosalyn is survived by her only son, Joseph Celentano, and his wife, Sherri, who blessed her with two cherished grandchildren: Joseph Celentano and Justina Petillo (married to Angelo). Her grandchildren were the light of her life, the joy of her existence.
Born in Staten Island, NY to the late Mary (Piedilato) and Enrico Cucco, Rosalyn posessed a fierce love of family, and she had plenty to share her life with. Her brother Robert Cucco and her deceased siblings Marie Bessi, John Cucco, David Cucco, Enrico Cucco Jr., and Mildred Bilotto and their families were as close as any family can be. To Rosalyn, family was not just a priority; it was everything.
Rosalyn met her husband while working as a executive secretary at RCA Communications in lower Manhattan. She left the corporate world for the calling of homemaker in her new home of Fort Lee. While raising her family Rosalyn dedicated herself to local volunteerism on an almost superhuman scale. Over the years Rosalyn dedicated her time to the Republican County Committee of Fort Lee, Fort Lee Department of Recreation, Fort Lee Senior Center, Fort Lee Original Seniors Club, Holy Trinity Rosary Society, her bowling club, and most importantly Holy Trinity Parish and School. She held numerous leadership positions in these clubs, received countless Fort Lee and Bergen County commendations for her volunteerism, and made many lifelong friendships. At Holy Trinity School Rosalyn was a member as well as President of the Mother's Guild, raising funds by running and participating in untold hot dog luncheons, bake sales, bingo sessions, a carnival and anywhere else she was needed.
One thing family will never forget about Rosalyn was her love of cooking and the incredible meals she created in her kitchen. She participated a number of times in the Dispatch's annual Best Recipe contest and ultimately won 1st and 3rd place in her category in 2 different years.
Rosalyn's devotion to her husband, son, brothers and sisters, community, and church inspired everyone that knew her. In recent years health problems have slowly stolen the light that shone so brightly within Rosalyn. Her courage in facing those struggles will remain an enduring legacy, inspiring her family for generations to come.
