Sang Soo Fukazawa

In Loving Memory of Sangsoo Fukazawa
June 15, 1958 – December 7, 2024

With hearts both heavy and hopeful, we celebrate the life of Sangsoo Fukazawa, 66, of Whitehouse Station, who peacefully entered eternal rest in her sleep on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Born on June 15, 1958, in Seoul, Korea, Sangsoo was a beacon of quiet strength, wisdom, and grace.

Sangsoo’s pursuit of knowledge began at Sook Myung Woman’s University in Seoul, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. In 1981, she journeyed to America, first settling in California, where she earned her Master’s in Computer Science from San Jose State University. In 1986, Sangsoo moved to New York City, where her career flourished at JP Morgan Chase Bank. She worked with diligence and excellence for over 20 years, and later met her beloved husband, Kikuzo (“Chris”) Fukazawa in Queens. The two married in October 1995, and they made New Jersey their home—a place where love and faith flourished.

Although naturally quiet and shy, Sangsoo’s life spoke volumes through her unwavering kindness, empathy, and service. Sangsoo found joy in the simple and profound moments of life: capturing memories through photos and videos, singing and dancing with joy, skiing down serene slopes, and finding harmony in the beauty of music. Her deep faith guided her in all things, as she served faithfully in church, translating for the Korean Ministry, studying theology, and always counseling those in need. Her life was a testament to humble service, patient endurance, and an overwhelming love for God and others.

Even in the face of a decade-long battle with dementia, Sangsoo’s light shone brightly. Her devoted husband and caretaker, Chris, stood faithfully by her side, exemplifying Christ’s love and sacrifice. Her brilliant mind was matched by a deep compassion that made her a gifted teacher and a treasured confidant to all who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Chris, and her precious daughter, Grace, who will carry forward her legacy of faith, love, and enduring strength.

A service to honor Sangsoo’s life will be held at Bethany Church of New Jersey on Tuesday, December 17, at 7:30 PM. Though we grieve her absence, we find peace in knowing that her body and mind are now fully restored, as she rejoices in the presence of her Savior and Father in Heaven.

Sangsoo’s life was a song of grace, and her memory will forever be a melody of love in the hearts of those she touched.
