Sophia Altin

Altin, Sophia nee: Plavoukos, a young 102, of Fort Lee, formerly of Washington Heights, NY on August 31, 2015. She was born in New York City and was a Buyer for Nemiroff's, NYC. A National Board Member of Philoptochos for over 40 Years being the longest serving member. She was on the U.S Committee for UNICEF. She served on Archbishop Iakovos Council, and on the Parish Council of St. John the Theologian for 15 years. A Recipient of the St. Paul Medal of Honor, the highest Award given to a Lay person in the Greek Orthodox Church. Beloved wife of the late Alexander Altin. Devoted mother of Marie Tzagournis, and the late Charles Altin and his wife Georgia. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Sophia, Alexander, Elissa, Adam & Zoe. Loving great grandmother of Christopher, Mia, Daphne and Leo. The family will receive their friends on Thursday 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home 327 Main Street "opposite the Fort Lee Library". All are asked to Assemble Friday in St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 10:00 AM.
