Sotiria Mikelis

Sotiria Mikelis (née Botsis), age 83, of Englewood Cliffs, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2024.  Born in Ioannina, Greece, on October 10, 1940, Sotiria was the beloved wife of the late Vasilios Mikelis and a pillar of strength and love for her family.  On September 9, 1962, she married Vasilios Mikelis in Ioannina, Greece, and together they started a loving family in Weehawken, New Jersey.  She was a devoted mother to Vivian Zarikos, Catherine Mikelis, and Stephanie Mikelis, and their partners, Dimitrios, James, and Stefanos. Her grandchildren, Niki, Nicholas, Nina, Alexander, Sophia, and Mary, along with her husband Erol, were the light of her life.  She was a proud great-grandmother of two, Sophie and Nina.  Sotiria was also a cherished sister to Dimitra Hatzipavli and the late Rula Petranis.  Her family and friends will remember her for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering support.  She touched many lives with her kindness and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Her legacy of love and dedication will live on through the memories shared by those who loved her.  A funeral service will be held at St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Cathedral on August 2 at 10:30 am.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
