Yvonne A.M. Friend

Yvonne Friend, nee Votier, passed away on October 20th at the age of 95 at home in Leonia, NJ. Yvonne was born in St. Etienne, France on May 18, 1925 and moved to the United States as a young bride. After living in Bayside and Forest Hills, Queens the family moved across the bridge to Leonia in 1966.

Yvonne loved living in Leonia and was very fond of her community on Reldyes Avenue. Yvonne loved to cook, garden and travel and was a memorable hostess. Her holiday dinners were amazing and remembered fondly by all who attended. Yvonne was also quite the accomplished artisan, whether it be sewing, knitting, doing stained glass or even upholstery. She could do anything when she put her mind to it. Up until the early 2000's she and Bernard would travel abroad on a yearly basis which often included a stop in France to see family.

Yvonne's husband Bernard predeceased her by seven years. She is survived by her son Michael, his wife Karyn, and her daughter Wendy and her husband John Whitaker. Yvonne cherished her grandchildren, Brett and Cory Friend, his wife Anna, and Carly and Jake Whitaker. Yvonne is also survived by her two great granddaughters, Francheska and Naomi Friend.

Due to COVID-19 a celebration of Yvonne's life will take place when we can do so in a safe and healthy manner.
